Bay inks with Big 12 program

One of the top point guards in the West will stay in the West. Kalvin Bay, a 6-foot-2, 170-pound point guard from Marcos de Niza High School in Tempe, Ariz., is headed to the Big 12 after meeting with his future head coach on Monday.
After visiting with Colorado head coach Ricardo Patton on Monday, Bay decided he was ready to put an end to his recruitment and pledged to the Big 12 school.

"Colorado has always been on the top of my school list, they play in the Big 12, in front of 10,000 fans, they play a great schedule and have fantastic coaches, choosing Colorado was easy," Bay said. "I have known for awhile I wanted to go there, other schools interested me as well, but Coach Patton is a honorable man of faith, that develops players and told me they needed a true point guard that could shoot, that pretty much defines me."
Bay is the final piece to a good class for the Buffs. He joins Texas guards Xavier Silas and Dwight Thorne, wings Dale VanWright and Jeremy Williams and Iowa post Sean Kowal.
Bay said he's looking forward to being a part of the Colorado class on and off the court.
"I love Coach Patton's commitment to his players and the way he focuses on character, integrity, honor - his outreach programs mean a lot to me, I love to give and seeing others benefit from something I did feels really good," Bay said. "Don't get me wrong, basketball and the opportunity to play immediately in a great conference for a great coach is why I am there, but there is a lot more to this decision than just basketball."
