Bawinkel enjoyed visit to MSU
Devan Bawinkel, the 6-foot-5, 185-pound combo guard from Winnebago (IL) High School recently returned from an unofficial visit to Michigan State. Bawinkel, the No. 104 ranked player in the class of 2006, wanted to introduce his family to the Spartan coaching staff, so they made the trip to East Lansing last Wednesday.
"I took an unofficial visit to Michigan State last Wednesday," Bawinkel said. "My family had never met the coaching staff, so we decided to go up and watch Michigan State play UNC-Ashville. The visit went real well and it was nice to see the coaches' and players. My family and I really enjoyed the game."

Bawinkel, the No. 26 ranked point guard in the class of 2006, was quick to admit that Michigan State is one school in particular that he has a great deal of interest in. However, Bawinkel also indicated that he is wide-open in his recruitment and plans to take his time with the process.
"Stanford has been to watch me play several times," Bawinkel said. "St. Louis and Georgetown are some of the schools that have been by to watch me play as well. I also know that Notre Dame and DePaul would like me to come up for an unofficial visit during the season.
"A lot of schools have been by to watch me practice and play," he added. "There are several schools that have not had the opportunity to watch me play yet, but some of those schools are planning to come see a game or two."
Before Bawinkel makes a decision about his future, he intends to take all five official visits next fall. While no dates have been set as of yet, Bawinkel would like to visit two schools in particular.
"I would really like to take official visits to California and Stanford," he said. "I haven't made a final decision about that yet, but those are two schools that I have a lot of interest in. I haven't really thought about the final three visits, but I definitely see myself taking official visits to California and Stanford."
