There is still plenty of time for the current junior class of prospects to emerge. However, 2016 small forward Kodye Pugh is firmly on the radar of many college programs.
A 6-foot-7 small forward at Baltimore (Md.) Boys Latin, Pugh ranks No. 148 in the class of 2016 and he's seen frequent visits from college coaches this fall after turning heads during the summer.
"I think it is just getting out there and getting exposure," Pugh told Rivals.com. "I've had great coaches that have helped me get places and get my game out there. The exposure and getting my name out there really helped."
Getting coaches to take a look is one thing. Getting them to come back and offer scholarships is another. So far, Pugh hasn't had any issues with that because of his size and versatile game.
"I'm a very long and versatile player," said Pugh. "I don't really have a position and I can play basically from the point guard to the five spot. If big guys try to check me then I can go by them and I can shoot and handle. If a guard tries to check me I can shoot over them so it is hard to guard me.
"I'm really focusing on my ball handing. It really has improved since the summer. I'm also working on my shot and I'm always working on getting stronger and getting quicker."
A member of the We-R-1 summer program, Pugh has already gathered offers from Georgetown, Northwestern, Temple, Princeton, Georgia Tech, Rice, George Mason, George Washington and St. Joseph's. Others who have taken looks include Vanderbilt, Harvard and Maryland.
Pugh says that he will seek input from his parents, trainers and coaches when it comes time to make a decision and that he is in no hurry to decide. However, he has already seen Georgetown, Northwestern, Temple, Princeton, George Washington, Maryland, Harvard and Vandy.
Taking those visits has given Pugh insight into the process and should help him out when it does come time to make a decision.
"Every school has different advantages so it is really hard to compare them," said Pugh. "So when it comes down to making a decision I'm going to have to really look at what each school has to offer and what advantages it has for me. So it's really going to come down to best fit.
"Every college that I have been to I have had an enjoyable time. So I'm trying to take it slow and not rush everything. I'm looking over everything and checking my options to make sure I take the right step."
