Baltimore PG Has Top 5

CHAPEL HILL, NORTH CAROLINA -- He might be one of the top point guards in the east. Tyler Smith, 6-2, 180-pounds, ran a solid floor game for the Baltimore Select this past weekend at the Bob Gibbons Tournament of Champions event.
Smith, a lefty, sliced through seams in the defense to find open teammates. He also occasionally stepped out and launched jumpers around the three-point line. "I am trying to work more this summer on my jumper," Smith said. "I want it to be more consistent. I am also working on improving my free throw shooting."

Smith, who played last season at Douglass High School in Baltimore, Maryland, told us he averaged 29 points and five assists last season. He played in the same backcourt as Gerald Brown. But it's likely that Smith will head to a prep school for this Fall. "I am not sure where I might go," Smith said. "I hope to know in another month."
Smith should be highly recruited due to his offensive skills. "I am interested in Charlotte, Connecticut, Massachusetts, Providence, and James Madison," Smith said. "I don't have a leader but I am also open. I am not sure when I might make a decision. I haven't set up any visits yet either."
