Balkman Talks About Verbal

Renaldo Balkman, a 6-6, 195 pound small forward from the IMG School in Bradenton, Fla., told us he had a very good visit to South Carolina. "I enjoyed my trip," said Balkman. "That's why I committed. I really didn't consider many other schools. My coach handled that."
Balkman said the balance of academics and athletics was a main attraction for South Carolina. "It's a great school," Balkman. "I should help them out. I think my scoring ability will help South Carolina out."

Balkman had opened some eyes last June with his fine play at the Rumble in the Bronx Tournament in New York. Balkman is extremely effective in transition, where he covers the court swiftly with long galloping strides. On top of that, he's a bouncy athlete who can also put the ball on the deck and get to the basket.
Balkman was a major factor in the Tallahassee Wildcats' ascension to the final four at the Rumble.
He previously told the Insiders Report/Rivalshoops.com that he has been offered thus far by South Florida, and also had interest in Indiana, Florida State, UConn, Miami, Cincinnati, Florida, Kentucky, Central Florida and Furman.
A native of Tampa, Fla., Balkman averaged 19 points, 11 rebounds, 2.2 steals and seven blocks per game this past season at IMG. Balkman said he has a 2.6 GPA and will take both the SAT and ACT in the fall for the first time.
