Balanced Brewster Knocks Off IMG

SMITHFIELD, RHODE ISLAND -- Roderick Middleton scored 17, Jamaal Caterina added 19, and Matthew Foster scored 16 points to lead Brewster Academy to a 82-73 win over IMG of Florida at the 2002 National Prep School Invitational held on the campus of Bryant College.
In addition, Armon Gates scored 13 points for Brewster. Head coach Jason Smith's team shot the ball very well from beyond the three-point line too. This helped elevate Brewster to a 48-45 lead.

With 9:12 remaining, Middleton knocked in a three-pointer from the right baseline corner to give Brewster a 66-54 advantage. But IMG didn't quit. A Robert Beck layin with 1:15 remaining cut the lead to 75-73. Foster hit one of two free throws with 51.2 seconds left and Caterina followed the miss with a basket to put the game away.
North Carolina bound recruit Damion Grant had very little production. "He rolled on his ankle earlier in the week," said Smith. "So he had trouble moving and turning."
Grant did not score a point. For the most part, the quick pace of the game forced Smith to go with a four guard lineup and Grant's minutes were limited.
