Back in Sessions: SC PG Ready to Play Again

Ramon Sessions didn’t have the summer he wanted in 2003. But that isn’t stopping five schools from recruiting the 6-foot-1 point guard from Myrtle Beach HS (SC). Now that the season is on the horizon, he is ready to get back on the hardwood.
Before the prestigious ABCD camp, a showcase designed to highlight guard play, Sessions injured his back in a pick up game and put his trip to New Jersey on hold. For him, that put his recruitment on a temporary pause.

“It was very disappointing,” Sessions said. “But now I’m ready to get back at it.”
He’ll start his post injury tour in a week and a half as he plays at the Bob Gibbons Evaluation Camp at Wake Forest September 27-28. For Sessions, this is his opportunity to reestablish himself as one of the top point guards in the country.
“I just want to go out there and show coaches that I have got some talent to play at the next level,” Sessions said.
The next level is down to five schools for the point guard. Currently he is in the process of scheduling official visits with UConn and Clemson sometime in September. Both schools have been recruiting him for the last year. South Carolina, Florida State and Miami round out the group.
“You always hear about UConn. They are always in the top 25,” Sessions said. “(Coach Calhoun) is a great coach and has been there for a long time.”
Clemson overlooked the back injury and have been pursuing the in-state prospect pretty heavily since the new coaching staff was installed.
“They’ve been very active and I talked to them a good bit over the summer,” Sessions said. “Dayton ran a running style of offense. I know the point guard for them and he said they loved to run and gun. (Former Flyers head) Coach Purnell will probably do that too at Clemson.”
Sessions said he has taken unofficial visits to both the Tigers and the Gamecocks. He said he may not make a decision until after the season but did leave the window open for the chance of an early decision.
Sessions is currently no. 147 on the Rivals150 and is the 28th rated point guard in the country.
