Baciu is a wanted man

Catalin Baciu is one of the hottest names on the recruiting front from the class of 2008. The 7-foot-1, 220-pound center from Veritas Christian in Asheville, N.C. has a long list of high-major offers and coaches are lining up to see him play this season.
The No. 49 ranked player in the class of 2008 and seventh ranked center in the nation may not have had a coach in the gym to see him on Thursday at the National Athletic Christian Association but he put in the work in the second half to help his team pick up an important win.

Baciu finished 22 points, 13 rebounds and three blocks and stepped up on the free throw line, converting 12 of 16 from the line. While the performance wasn't his best, the big man is having a big year to justify the high-major interest.
To date, Baciu is holding offers from Clemson, Memphis, NC State, St. John's, Tennessee, Utah, Wake Forest and Davidson. Baciu has been busy on the visit trail, checking out the campuses of Clemson, Davidson, NC State, Tennessee, Virginia Tech and Wake Forest.
"I knew nothing. It's all new to me," Baciu said of his knowledge of the teams recruiting him. "I've been to a few colleges and seen how a few of the teams play. But I haven't seen enough to say anything about making a decision."
Baciu, who has only been in the United States for five months, will play the spring AAU season with the Charlotte Royals and then return home to Romania to play with his country's junior national team in the European Championships in July in Poland.
