WHY I LIKE HIM

Edwards is a big- framed lead guard who plays with good pace and is able to hunt points in the mid-range and the paint. Growing up miles away from campus, the rising senior is an iso-type player, good in the pick and roll and will not get sped up when getting to where he wants to go on the floor. Edwards is a good rebounder, and he sees the floor well. Edwards ability to play both guard positions should be valuable as they continue to piece together this class

IN HIS OWN WORDS

“They really develop guys at the guard spot. Guys come in and play big minutes, like Jaden (Springer) and Keon (Johnson). I will fit well in the system as the one or the two guard. They usually have two or three guards on the court at the same time, so I like that.”

RIVALS' REACTION

Edwards is the first commitment for Tennessee in the 2022 class. Tennessee has signed four five-star prospects and four four-star prospects over their last two classes, so why not start with another top 100 ranked, four-star in Edwards. Tennessee is quickly becoming a top name in college basketball, a new blood in the recruiting world. With prospects such as Rivals150 No. 31 Dillon Mitchell, No. 133 De’Ante Green, No. 55 Noah Clowney, No. 10 Brandon Miller and No. 32 Jalen Hood-Schifino all visiting in June, it helps to get your point guard in first and build from there.

COACH'S CORNER

"BJ is one of the hardest working basketball players to come through our program. When your most talented player is the hardest worker on the team, then his teammates follow. He is an outstanding student in the classroom and very humble. BJ doesn't get carried away with the personal accolades, and articles; his main focus is the team's success." - Knoxville Catholic associate head coach Tony Scott
