AZ Stud Morrison Will Take Prep Year

While unsigned seniors are looking for a college to sign with, Ty Morrison will be looking for a prep school to attend next year. The 6-foot-8, 210 pound forward from Trevor Browne HS in Phoenix, Ariz. has decided to take an extra year at the prep level before playing Division I basketball. We caught up with Morrison and got the scoop on his plans.
The All-state performer had a sensational senior season Trevor Browne and helped lead the team to a 22-7 record. Morrison averaged 21 points, 15 rebounds, eight blocks and five assists on the season. He also said he believes he broke the all-time Arizona state record in career rebounds and finished second all-time to Channing Frye in career blocked shots.

With his athletic talent and upside, schools like Arizona State, Iowa, Oklahoma and Oregon have given Morrison a serious look. But academic issues have made him look elsewhere, particularly to the prep schools. One school is particularly high on his wish list.
“I want to go to Oak Hill, the best of the best," Morrison said. "My coach is making some calls but for now I’m just wide open. I want to play somewhere with good talent level and see how many kids that go there pass the SAT and get a good education.”
Morrison said he's also considering Brewster Academy and others. The move will also propel him in the national rankings.
“If I went to a junior college, I’d miss two years of Division I ball. So right now I’m just looking for the best opportunity for me out there. Plus, I think different doors might open up for me,” he said.
Morrison will play for the Arizona Magic once again this summer on the AAU circuit. RivalsHoops will have a chance to see him early at the Las Vegas Easter Classic.
