Ayers Starting Visits This Weekend

Ryan Ayers, a 6-foot-6, 190-pound shooting guard from Germantown Academy (Penn.), has an agenda this spring. He wants to educate himself with several schools in order to make a wise decision on his college future. That process begins this weekend when he hits the road for his first official visit. We caught up with him at the Capitol Invitational and got the latest.
Ayers, Rivals.com’s No. 80 player in the class of 2005, recently trimmed his school list to six choices. Notre Dame, Villanova, North Carolina, Virginia, Stanford and Maryland have all made the cut.

“Those schools just seemed to fit me better both as a player and a student,” Ayers said. “Now, I’m going to look at each one closely and find the positives in what they have to offer and go from there.”
Ayers will make his first official visit this weekend when he travels to South Bend and takes in the sites at Notre Dame. He said after his trip with the Irish, he’ll likely go on another visit the weekend after that. Where he’ll go is still yet to be determined. But he does know that he wants to expedite the process.
“I’d like to have (my recruitment) done by the summer,” Ayers said. “I’m making some visits here in the spring and that should help me decide.”
We were impressed with Ayer’s ability to find his way to the bucket in traffic and didn’t force the issue in tight situations. He is well-coached and very coachable to boot. Ayers, the son of former Philadelphia 76ers head coach Randy Ayers, has been around basketball all of his life and his knowledge is beginning to shine through on the hardwood.
“I just want to keep improving,” Ayers said. “I want to show that I can score inside and outside but more importantly prove to myself that I can improve every game. That’s my main goal. I just want to compete at a high-level and always find something to work on.”
