Ayers Makes Decision

Ryan Ayers, a 6-foot-6, 190-pound wing from Germantown Academy (Pa.), knew he wanted to get the recruiting process behind him early. That’s why he took two official visits to Notre Dame and Virginia. On Wednesday, he picked the school where he’ll spend his college years.
Ayers announced he will attend Notre Dame at a press conference held at Germantown Academy. The No.80 player on the Rivals.com top 100 players in the class of 2005 said the Irish fit the mold of school he wanted to attend for both basketball and academics. He was able to see that on his official visit three weeks ago.

“It was good to see everyone when I was on my visit. Not just the players, but everyone around the school. The students were great. The professors were great,” Ayers said of his visit.
“The players just seemed like my kind of people. They strive for excellence both on and off the court. Plus I’d like to major in Business and they have a great program for that. Notre Dame offers me a great education.”
Ayers is the second player to commit to the Irish in the last couple of weeks. Big man Luke Zeller gave a verbal pledge to Mike Brey after visiting South Bend in April. Ayers said Brey was excited to hear the news and he expects big things from him in the future.
“He said he sees me coming in right away and fighting for playing time on the wing,” Ayers said. “He told me that I’m one of those complete players that knows the game and knows how to play at that level. I’m excited.”
