Augustin down to pair

D.J. Augustin, one of the top point guards in the country, is down to two schools and he recently unofficially visited both of them before he hit's the road in July. The five-star, 5-foot-11, 160-pound floor general from New Orleans's Brother Martin High School checked in with Rivals.com and gave us the latest on his fall decision.
Augustin, the No. 18 ranked player in the class of 2006, unofficially visited Texas last week and came away impressed with his first trip to Austin.

"They treated me good. I enjoyed myself," Augustin said. "I had never been there before so everything I knew about them was from their media guides so it was good to see it in real life.
"I was at the campus all day, checking everything out. Their practice facility is real nice. Coach Barnes said they just built it and their players can stop as late as one in the morning if they wanted to just to workout. He said it was as nice as the Dallas Mavericks' facilities."
Augustin also unofficially visited LSU in the last couple of weeks, saying his time in Baton Rouge was "real nice. It's always nice there.
"I've played with (incoming Tiger) Tasmin (Mitchell) for two to three years and I know a lot of the guys that go there. The coaches are real close to my family. That's always stuck out to me."
With the two unofficial visits already under his belt, Augustin said he still wants to make official visits in the fall to see the schools at full tilt.
"I feel like it is important to get out there and take some visits now with my family so they can show us everything," Augustin said. "Then I'd like to go out and see the campuses when school is in sometime in September so I can see how it is with the students are there."
After taking the two trips, Augustin said he's looking at an October decision and he plans on signing in November. He said at this stage both programs are even.
Augustin will kick off his final summer tour at the adidas Superstar camp in Suwannee, Ga., on July 5.
