Ashton-Langford solid with three

Makai Ashton-Langford

One of the top point guards in the class of 2017, four-star Makai Ashton-Langford is coming off a tremendous summer and continues to focus on three high major programs.

A tough and athletic 6-foot-2 point guard who ranks No. 40 overall in the 2017 Rivals150, Ashton-Langford just finished helping the Mass Rivals win both of Adidas main summer events.

He'll spend his final high school year at Wolfeboro (N.H.) Brewster Academy and remains locked in on a trio of Connecticut, Louisville and Providence as he looks to make his college choice.

IN HIS OWN WORDS

Louisville: “I really like them. I think they fit my playing style really well, defensively and offensively.”

Providence: “They are close to home too, but I really like what they did with Kris Dunn. They helped him progress with his jump shot and everything really.”

UConn: “That’s been my school since I was young. They have been really good at producing point guards too. Coach [Kevin] Ollie, that’s my man. I really like them.”

WHAT'S NEXT?

Ashton-Langford plans to take official visits to Louisville, Providence and UConn sometime within the next few months. He has set no timeline for when a commitment could come and Ashton-Langford says he wants to do it whenever he’s comfortable. He says that he would be willing to wait until the late period but is likely to sign early.

RIVALS' REACTION

As with many recruitments, this is one where official visits are going to be very important. Listening to him talk, it sounds like there are aspects of each program that really have him excited about potentially joining them next year. Going into visits, UConn could have a slight edge. He lit up when talking about the Huskies and Kevin Ollie, and openly admitted to growing up a fan of the program.
