Ashley close to narrowing list

Brandon Ashley still is not giving away many hints on where he's headed to college but the five-star power forward from Oakland (Calif.) Bishop O'Dowd said last weekend at the NIKE EYBL near Los Angeles that he's close to narrowing down his list.
Ashley's plan is to trim his extensive list to 10 in the next two or three weeks and then made his decision by the start of his season. There is also a strong consideration to sign early as well.

"At the moment I'm still pretty wide open but I'm thinking about narrowing down my list to a top 10 within the next two or three weeks and then I'll probably end up picking a school at the beginning of the season and getting it done in the early signing period," Ashley said.
"I can't really say there is anyone sticking out right now. I'm just trying to figure everything out."
The Oakland Soldiers power forward received his first recruiting letter when he was still in middle school so this has been a long process for him.
Ashley, a 6-foot-8, 225-pound prospect, said there has been lots of pressure surrounding his decision and so getting it done earlier rather than later is preferred.
"I wanted to get everything done as soon as possible," Ashley said. "It's a lot of pressure going through all the calls and the recruiting.
"I want to end everything in a way. It started for me really early. I got my first letter in the eighth grade. Getting it done and not having to worry about people trying to get me to go here or go there, I just want to make my decision and be done with it."
Arizona, Arizona State, Cal, Connecticut, Kansas, Kentucky, Ohio State, Oregon, Oregon State, Stanford, Texas, UCLA, USC, Wake Forest, Washington and Washington State are some of the programs involved in his recruitment.
Rivals.com rates him fifth at power forward and No. 14 overall in the 2012 class.
