Antonio Rambo Update

Antonio Rambo, a high scoring 5-9 shooting guard from Southwestern Illinois C.C. in Belleville, Ill., could be one of the more sought after JUCO guards this winter.
The Memphis, Tenn., native was ranked by many analysts as one of the top JC guards in the Class of 2002. However, some programs might be a bit gun shy about recruiting Rambo, since he is essentially a two guard in a one's body.

Rambo struggled at the recent Meramec JUCO Shootout in a 69-61 loss to Highland C.C. He scored 17 points in the contest, but missed quite a few shots from the field and from the free throw line.
Rambo reads screens well, so that combined with his quickness make him an offensive threat from almost anywhere on the floor. He has a quick trigger on the pull-up jumper, and jitterbug moves that he uses to maneuver around defenders. One thing we noticed is that Rambo must have his body in control before hoisting his shots. A lot of his misses seemed to stem from the fact that he was not properly squared and under control.
SW Illinois Asst. Coach Steve Campo told JUCO Junction/Rivalshoops.com that Rambo has seen looks from some Division I schools, including Southern Illinois and Eastern Illinois.
In addition, Division II powerhouse Kentucky Wesleyan was at Meramec to scout Rambo, and they are keeping an eye on him in case he can't bring his academic ledger up to Division I eligibility standards.
Campo said that Rambo will have a chance to graduate in the spring, and you can be sure that JUCO Junction/Rivalshoops.com will keep you posted on his status in the coming months.
