Another Trip For Villanueva

Indiana has gained strength in this recruiting race and Charlie Villanueva may take another visit, according to sources close to the outstanding 6-10 combo forward from Blair Academy in New Jersey. As pointed out by reporter Brian Towey in RivalsHoops.com's last story, the effort put forth by Indiana head coach literally moved the Hoosiers into the recruiting race for Villanueva and Luol Deng.
Both Deng and Villanueva made appearances on the Hoosiers' campus last weekend. This weekend, Villanova will roll out the red carpet for Charlie for its version of Midnight Madness. There will be many familiar faces greeting Villanueva, including Mike Claxton, Jason Fraser, and Curtis Sumpter. Each of these three individuals, now part of the Wildcats' program, played with Villanueva two summers ago with the Long Island Panthers. So you can expect a lot of pressure put forth by the three on Villanueva to join them at Villanova.

But the battle may be a little more complicated than previously thought. Villanueva may now take a visit to Georgia. He thought about also taking a trip to either Southern Cal or UCLA. But, as of this published story, Georgia might be the best bet for a fifth visit by Villanueva. This doesn't mean though that the visit will definitely take place. It is being considered right now by Villanueva, who was given a good recommendation about Jim Harrick by his friend, Lamar Odom. Lamar previously played for Harrick at Rhode Island.
Charlie has already been to the campus of Illinois and Seton Hall. Both are still major contenders for Villanueva.
Villanueva, No. 3 in the RivalsHoops.com's top 100, had a rock solid summer. He can spray you with jumpers from beyond the three or hammer you with a thundering dunk in transition. He runs the floor well and is agile enough to play several positions on the college level. Villanueva should have a big year at Blair.
