Another Scholarship Offer For Monk

The Oklahoma Sooners recently became a major player in the Marcus Monk, sweepstakes. Kelvin Sampson visited the 6-foot-6, 205-pound small forward from East Poinsett County High School in Lepanto, Arkansas and officially offered him a scholarship.
“Coach Sampson was here (today) and offered Marcus a scholarship,” East Poinsett County High School head coach Kevin Kyzer said. “I was in another gym meeting with other coach, but I hear everything went great.

“Coach Sampson asked Marcus to come to Oklahoma for a visit and he’s going to do that in May,” he added.
Oklahoma, before their visit, was one of many schools hoping to get Monk on campus. He’s been meeting with coaches all week and he’s expecting to see more coaches before May 30, which is the end of the contact period.
“UAB has been here and coaches from Memphis are still coming,” Kyzer said. “He’s got offers from Stanford, Boston College, UAB, Arkansas, Northwestern and Vanderbilt. Florida was scheduled to come in for a visit, but they could not get enough coaches off the road in time.
Along with Oklahoma, Monk has been invited to visit Stanford and Boston College next month.
