Another Bonner Ready For High D-1 Play

Watching Luke Bonner play this past weekend up at the Five-Star Hoop Classic in Boston, Mass., kind of reminded us a bit of watching his older brother Matt play.
Of course, Matt just wrapped up an excellent college basketball career at the University of Florida. Luke has some of the same tendencies as his older brother, especially when it comes to shooting the ball.

Luke, a 6-foot-10, 232-pound power forward from Trinity H.S. in Manchester, N.H., showed that he can hit the three pointer while playing with the New York Elite program at the Five-Star Classic. That was one of Matt's specialties as well.
The younger Bonner is probably stronger in his upper body at the same stage, and plays an aggressive and physical style when he's in the paint. While he has a bit of a lateral deficit, Luke has good hands, soft touch and will draw contact in the low post.
Bonner told RivalsHoops.com that he has been offered a scholarship by the University of Rhode Island. Others looking at the skilled big man include Xavier, Kansas, Missouri, UConn, Providence, Syracuse, Stanford and Florida.
Luke averaged 20 points, 16 rebounds, three assists and five blocks per game as a junior at Trinity.
In the classroom, Bonner said he has a 3.56 GPA and has already notched a 1260 on the PSAT. He took the actual SAT for the first time on May 3.
Thanks to his older brother and sister, Bonner has had a chance to take unofficial visits to Florida and Stanford. He's also been down to Rhode Island, where one of his former high school classmates in now a manager for the basketball team.
Bonner has a full slate of events to play in over the next two months. He will attend the NBA Players Association Camp in Richmond, Va., and kick off the July evaluation period at the adidas ABCD Camp in New Jersey.
Bonner competes with Frank Alosa's Granite State Raiders on the summer hoops circuit, and they'll be at the adidas Big Time Tournament in Las Vegas in late July.
RivalsHoops.com will be on hand for that event and several others, so we'll keep you on top of Bonner's play as the live period approaches. Stay tuned.
