Anderson Favors One, Lists Five Total

C.J. Anderson, a 6-foot-5, 205 pound small forward from Laurinburg Prep (NC), will let you know he can play. He’ll either tell you or he’ll look down at you after he beat you to the basket, dunking with authority. We had a chance to see Anderson in action this weekend at the D-One Round Robin Tournament in Greensboro, NC.
Anderson is a fearless player with big time jumping ability. He isn’t afraid to attack the basket but he also has good enough court vision to run the offense as a point guard. That skill is appealing to a number of schools.

“A lot of schools want me to play point guard,” Anderson said. “I don’t know how much I’ll play it this year but I like playing the point.”
Those schools looking at Anderson’s playmaking ability include: Arkansas, Nebraska, Pitt, Seton Hall and Virginia Tech.
“Those are the schools for right now,” Anderson said. He does have a certain affinity to Virginia Tech, where he’s already taken an unofficial visit. The Hokies made an in home visit with him last week as well.
“They’ve been recruiting me the hardest and they’ve been following me longer than anyone else,” Anderson said. “V-Tech has shown me a lot of love, so I’m just trying to show that love back.”
One of the things that is appealing to the athletic Anderson is Virginia Tech’s move from the Big East to the ACC next year.
“That will certainly help. I’ve thought about that,” Anderson said. “Who wouldn’t want to play in the ACC?”
Future Nebraska Corn Husker Joe McCray lines up with Anderson on the Laurinburg starting lineup. The two make for a deadly duo because of their athleticism and understanding of each other’s game. Anderson said McCray is doing his best to convince him to come to Middle America.
“He’s one of my closest friends on the team and we’ve talked about going together (to Nebraska),” Anderson said. “I’ll consider that, too. We might go out there together after we take our SATs.”
The duo will take the SAT next week on October 11th. Anderson said he would likely make a decision in the next couple of months, after the season gets started. His official visits will be scattered throughout the fall.
