Ameer Watts Having Solid Year

Ameer Watts, an offensive minded 5-10, 185 pound point guard from John A. Logan C.C. in Carterville, Ill., played well at the recent Meramec Tournament in St. Louis.
Watts scored 17 points to help the Volunteers easily defeat East Central C.C., 74-52.

JUCO Junction/Rivalshoops.com had the chance to catch up with Logan Asst. Coach Brent Baker at Meramec, and he said that several Division I schools have expressed an interest in Watts.
Specifically, Maine, Indiana State and Northern Illinois have been on Watts the strongest this fall.
Watts, who has a pepperpot type of build, loves to shoot the short pull-up jumper. He's economical with the ball when he's not on the offensive, meaning that he will dish to an open teammate if he's not looking for his own opportunity.
Watts needs to do a better job of getting back on defense, but he seems to have a little more giddy in his step when Logan is on the offensive side of the court.
