Almamy Thiero A Workhorse Inside

MIDDLE ISLAND, NEW YORK -- In the Mount Zion Christian Academy offense, inside forward Almamy Thiero is usually not the first option for a shot. It's because Glen Dandrige, Kenston Roberts, David Bell, and Norman Simmons like to shoot the pumpkin.
Thiero is a player that does the dirty work for Mount Zion. He doesn't complain. He just does his job. Thiero rebounds, defends, blocks shots, puts back missed shots, and occasionally will get an opportunity to showcase his low post moves.

In the Memphis style of play, Thiero will fit in nicely. He will get plenty of chances to score easy baskets with the Memphis backcourt. Though Thiero only scored seven points last night, the upside is high for him. At 239 pounds, he uses his frame well.
"He has had a great season for us," said Mount Zion head coach Antonio Fozard. "He works very hard and is improving every day. He is a reason why we have been successful this season. He is going to be a great college player."
Thiero led his team in rebounds with 12 yesterday and had four blocks. "He always helps us on the boards," Fozard said. "He is big and strong. He is going to help Memphis out a lot."
