Allen joining teammate in ACC

A number of schools were recruiting DeMatha High School small forward Jeff Allen, but Allen, 6-foot-7, 215-pounds, has ended his recruitment before the July evaluation period. The No. 35 ranked small forward will join up with his high school teammate Nigel Munson and play in the ACC.
"Jeff committed to Virginia Tech today," said his longtime summer coach Tony Langly. "He is very excited about it. He wanted to continue playing with his backcourt teammate Nigel Munson."

Allen, who is presently out with a broken finger and focused on preparing for the SAT, has not been on the travel team circuit and will miss the Nike All American Camp due to his injury. Besides Virginia Tech, Connecticut, Michigan, Illinois, Georgetown, Ohio State, Georgia and Syracuse were all recruiting Allen according to Langly.
"He likes the school a lot," said Langly. "We went back to Virginia Tech for another unofficial visit this weekend to tour the school. Jeff was able to meet some of the players, and he really hit it off with them.
"I think he'll do well at Virginia Tech. He is a tremendous rebounder, shoots it well with either hand and can really run the floor."
Jeff Allen scouting report
Allen has a very good feel for the game. He is very good with the ball in the open court and is adept at finding the open man. He is very good going left and can shoot it, but the outside shot is not his strong suit.
