Allen Holcomb, a 6-5, 205 pound power forward from Allen County C.C. in Iola, Kan., garnered some Division I interest after turning in a fine performance at the Jayhawk Shootout earlier this month.
Holcomb pumped in 22 points in a come from behind victory over Brown Mackie College at the Shootout. The Lions featured one of the better front lines with 6-11 Lee Benson and 6-7 Erik Shontee, but Holcomb was able to solve them as the Red Devils emerged with the win.

Holcomb was not as impressive two days later in a win against Cloud County at the Shootout, as he finished with eight points in another Allen County victory. Still, it was not a bad weekend for Holcomb, who according to Allen County Head Coach Mike Hayes was playing with a dislocated left shoulder.
Winthrop and Robert Morris are two of the Division I schools who have shown an interest in Holcomb this fall, Hayes said.
Holcomb, a native of Chicago, Ill., played last winter at South Plains College in Levelland, Tex., another two-year school. Coach Hayes said that Holcomb will definitely need at least six hours in the summer to graduate, so many Division I programs will likely take a cautious approach in recruiting the garbage man deluxe this winter.
