Allen has a pair of favorites

Chris Allen put any doubters to rest at the recent Georgia Hoops Fall Showcase that he's one of the top guards in the Southeast from the class of 2007. The 6-foot-3, 175-pound guard from Meadowcreek High School in Lawrenceville, Ga., has also been checking out some of the top programs in the country.
Allen recently visited Michigan State and came away impressed with the Big Ten school. He even had a chance to play against one of the top shooting guards in the country during his time at MSU.

"I had a good time. I had a chance to play Shannon Brown and I felt like I did pretty good against him," Allen said. "He was guarding me and I tried to go at him but he ripped my shirt right off of my body. He knows how to guard people real physically. I knew I had to be strong and go right back at him."
The Spartans have Allen on their must-get list and with an offer on the table, Allen said he was expecting Tom Izzo and staff to talk about committing to their program.
"They tried to get me to commit but I wanted to wait. I probably won't be committing any time soon," Allen said. "If I do, it will be sometime next summer and at least before my senior year."
With the high interest from the Spartans, Allen said it's looking like a two-horse race for his services right now.
"Michigan State and Georgia - those are my top two schools right now," Allen said.
The four-star prospect has already unofficially visited Georgia a couple of times. Allen will visit Tennessee next weekend and a visit to Auburn with fellow 2007 prospect B.J. Frazier is in the works.
Clemson, Georgia Tech, Virginia Tech, Miami and others are also involved.
Allen was the top guard at the loaded Georgia Hoops Fall Showcase. He has incredible range on his jumper and is beginning to really attack the basket and show off his athleticism.
