Despite struggling with a foot injury that sidelined
him for the majority of his senior season and a woeful

night from the field, a somber Allan Ray was able to
reflect back on all that he and his St. Raymond's
program had accomplished during his memorable run
after last Thursday's 66-49 loss to Xaverian in the CHSAA
quarterfinals.
"It wasn't what I expected," said Ray. "But we had
a great run, winning the last two state championships
in a row."
After being sidelined for four months because of his
foot, Ray was still in early season form while other
players around the league were peaking.
"It felt like the beginning of the season for me,"
said Ray. "There are certain things on the court that
I can't do yet. Hopefully, I'll get that back over the
summer."
With two state crowns and considerable experience
under his belt, Ray feels that he is ready to make the
jump to the next level.
"I'm ready to move on now," said Ray. "I'm going to
work on my game and do whatever I have to do to get
ready for the next level."
Ray moves on to the Big East as a member of Jay
Wright's stellar first class. No doubt the accessible,
down-to-earth Ray will thrive at the next level
considering his character and skills.
