Alfred Williams Signs

Alfred Williams, the ultra athletic 6-4, 175 pound swingman from Dixie State College in St. George, Ut., has signed a national letter of intent with Southern Utah.
JUCO Junction/Rivalshoops.com caught up with Dixie Asst. Coach Ryan Burke on Tuesday, and he confirmed that Williams signed his letter of intent today.

Williams visited Southern Utah from Apr. 5-7. It was the only official visit that Williams took this spring.
A native of Bakersfield, Calif., Williams has received many inquiries after making the all-tournament team two weeks ago at the NJCAA Tournament in Hutchinson, Kan. Williams pumped in 14 points in the Rebels' thrilling 82-81 victory over Coffeyville C.C. of Kansas back on March 23 as Dixie claimed the national title.
Among the programs who had inquired about Williams were Minnesota, Wisconsin and San Diego State.
A terrific athlete who simply glides to the rim in transition and on the offensive glass, Williams is a reliable jump shooter out to midrange. His athleticism makes him a dangerous factor and finisher around the glass at all times.
As a sophomore at Dixie, Williams averaged 11.6 points and 4.5 rebounds per game. He shot 50 percent from the field and 37 percent from beyond the arc for the Rebels, who finished the year at 34-3.
Last year as a freshman, Williams was a key player on a Dixie squad that placed third at the NJCAA Tournament. As a sophomore this season, he and 6-8 LSU bound Jaime Lloreda formed a tough one-two punch for the opposition.
Burke said that he expects Williams to graduate in the spring.
