Alexander Thankful For Fresh Start

After transferring from Oklahoma, DeAngelo Alexander has found a new place to call home. The 6-foot-5, 210-pound shooting guard/small forward from Midwest City High School in Midwest City, Okla., has given a commitment to UNC Charlotte after taking an official visit to the campus several weeks ago.
“I have already been accepted to attend Charlotte,” Alexander said. “I have signed all of the papers and will be on campus June 21. I plan to takw some summer classes and get used to the new surroundings. I really like Charlotte because of their academics. I plan to major in African American studies and minor in communications.”

Alexander knew that Charlotte was the best situation after he and his father had a long talk with the 49ers coaching staff. While several factors were involved in the final decision, the relationship played a big role in the minds of Alexander and his family.
“My dad and I had a long talk with the coaches,” Alexander said. “I knew this was probably my last shot at playing college basketball, so I wanted to be certain that it was the perfect fit that I was looking for. The style of play and opportunity to get quite a few more touches also factored in this decision.
“I feel that I will take on more of a role during my time at Charlotte,” he added. “That was one thing I felt was lacking during my time at Oklahoma. I hope to have more of an impact on my time this time around. I am definitely excited and thankful for this new opportunity.”
