Alexander Johnson Set For Georgia

Alexander Johnson, a 6-9 forward from Albany, Georgia, has given a commitment to Georgia, according to his father who we spoke to by phone.
Memphis was seriously considered in this battle too and there are some in the recruiting world feel that the Tigers won't go easy in this war.

We have not been able to reach Alexander himself. But if the commitment sticks, Georgia has themselves one fine player who is likely to be a terrific college basketball player.
Johnson, who has improved his overall game dramatically from a year ago, is highly respected for his game by most big time programs. So Jim Harrick has done an excellent job in nailing down this commitment.
We say if it sticks because when players verbal so early, there is always the chance a change of heart can come. But again, remember, 90 percent of the commitments do stick.
Johnson's dad said that Alexander is looking forward to playing for coach Harrick. Before Alexander can do that though he must pick it up in the classroom too.
If the combination of academics and athletics straighten themselves out for Johnson, look out -- Harrick has the start of a great class.
We hope to speak to Alexander later this evening. Once we do, we will add the story to the front page.
