Alex Carmona Talks About His Recruiting Process

Alex Carmona, a well built 6-5, 210 pound power forward from Troy H.S. in Troy, Ohio, told us tonight in a phone interview that he will visit Memphis this upcoming weekend. "I have not made a decision," Carmona said. "I am still considering Cincinnati, Dayton, and Michigan State too."
Carmona said he has already seen those three schools but has yet to see Memphis. "I wanted to see all of the schools before I make a decision," Carmona said. "But the report saying I committed is not true. I have not committed to any school."

But of course, this is not to say Carmona won't verbal to Memphis. After all, Carmona is taking his last visit there. And he is indicating he wants to make a decision soon. "I hope to have a decision a week after my visit to Memphis," Carmona said. "I like all the schools on my list."
But it's tough to bet against John Calipari when he has the last at-bat.
According to Alex's host family, Carmona currently has a top list of Memphis, Michigan State, Cincinnati, and Dayton, in no particular order.
At July's ABCD Camp, Carmona told the Insiders Report that he had been offered scholarships by Dayton and Cincinnati, and was also being looked at by Louisville, Memphis and Michigan State.
This list has not really changed that much except that Louisville received a commitment from Francisco Garcia at the ABCD camp. This eliminated Louisville.
A native of Carolina, Puerto Rico, Carmona averaged 26.5 points and 14.5 rebounds per game as a junior for Barry Egan's Troy program.
Carmona said he has about a 2.0 GPA, but admitted that he will need to boost his SAT and ACT scores in order to qualify under NCAA standards.
