Al Horford Headed To Michigan

Al Horford, the 6-foot-8, 211-pound power forward from Grand Ledge High School in Grand Ledge, MI., has given a commitment to the Michigan Wolverines. Coaches from Kansas and UCLA were scheduled to be in Michigan today to conduct in-home visits, but those visits have been canceled.
“Yes, the rumor about Al giving a commitment is true,” Michigan Mustangs AAU Head Coach Norman Oden said. “Al had a great showing in Las Vegas during the Big Time Tournament and became a hot commodity from that point on.

“He took unofficial visits to Michigan several times and just loved everything about it,” he added. “Al played pick-up games with the other players and spent time with the coaching staff, so that was probably the difference maker. I really thought he would take some official visits, but he decided Michigan was the best place.
Rivals.com ranks Horford No. 89 on the Rivals150 list and the 26th best power forward in the class of 2004.
