Akpejiori to the ACC

A broken foot kept Nigerian native Raphael Akpejiori from playing basketball at Bel Aire (Kan.) Sunrise Christian Academy last year, but it didn't keep him from landing in the ACC.
Akpejiori, a 6-foot-9, 230-pound center is headed to Miami.

"Raphael had a bunch of interest from the Big 12, but in the end it came down to Columbia, South Florida and Miami," said Sunrise Christian Academy head coach Kyle Lindsted. "He is a great student and is studying to be an Engineer. On the court he is a defender and rebounder with a nice body. He also passes really well for a big man. Nigerians aren't known for their offense, but I think Raphael is more advanced in that areas. He has some good skills."
A couple years ago Akpejiori came to the states and played in the spring Jordan Brand Classic. That summer, however, he broke his foot and did not get back onto the court until this summer when he ran with Baltimore Elite.
He joins four-star wing Rion Brown in the 2010 Miami recruiting class.
