Afflalo Leaves Centennial High School

Arron Afflalo, the 6-foot-5, 195-pound shooting guard from Compton, CA., is no longer attending Centennial High School. He decided it would be best if he made the change to Los Angeles Price High School for his senior year, so that is what he did. Afflalo indicated that academics and the environment were the biggest factors involved in his decision.
“I am now attending Los Angeles Price High School,” Afflalo said. “There were several reasons I made the change, but I really felt it was a better school with better academics and a better environment.

“I won’t have to sit out a semester or anything like that,” he added. “I’m eligible to play right now, which is great news for me. I’m just ready to get my senior year of basketball started.”
Afflao was the first player to give UCLA a commitment under new head coach Ben Howland, but he was not the last. Since that time, Jordan Farmar and Lorenzo Mata, both California natives, have given the Bruins a strong three-man class.
“I’m excited about the direction UCLA is headed,” Afflalo said. “Jordan Farmar and Lorenzo Mata are great additions to the program, but I know the coaching staff isn’t done with their recruiting. I believe they have one or two more scholarships left.
“I plan on signing with UCLA during the early period,” he added. “We’ve talked about taking an official visit to UCLA and maybe catching a football game. No date has been set just yet, but that’s something we’re working on.”
Rivals.com ranks Afflalo No. 32 on the Rivals150 list and the 10th best shooting guard in the class of 2004.
