Afflalo Gives Early Commitment

Arron Afflalo ,a 6-foot-5, 195-pound shooting guard from Centennial High School in Compton, California has given a commitment to the UCLA Bruins. While several factors were involved in this decision, the hiring of Ben Howland was the difference maker.
It didn’t take long for the word to get out that Arron Afflalo had given a commitment to UCLA. Danny Afflalo, Arron’s father, gives RivalsHoops.com the very latest.

“Yes, Arron gave a commitment to UCLA,” Danny Afflalo said. “It was close to home and that really became an issue when he made a decision.”
Afflalo had been receiving interest from schools like Kansas, Oregon, Stanford, Louisville and Syracuse, but newly hired head coach Ben Howland really impressed the Afflalo household.
“We have nothing against the other schools and we hope people realize that,” Afflalo said. “I wanted Arron to wait until the summer was over, but once coach Howland was hired and we spent a little time with him, there was no point in waiting any longer.
“I really believe that Arron committing to UCLA could draw other players from this area in,” he added.
Afflalo will leave for Las Vegas next week and will then travel to Houston, Texas for another highly anticipated AAU event.
