adidas/EA Sports Superstar: Mohamed Tangara

As one of the members of one of the best starting fives in the nation at Mt. Zion in Durham, N.C., 6-foot-9, 230 pound forward Mohamed Tangara ends his prep career with some insight to his next stop: the University of Arizona. We caught up with the No. 64 player on the Rivals150 at the adidas/EA Sports Superstar Weekend in Knoxville, Tenn this weekend and look to the future with the PAC-10 prospect.
Tangara finished his third season at the power Mt. Zion with a 28-1 record and improved himself inside the paint. But that isn’t the only thing he developed there.

“My first year there I just had to learn how to get into the gym and play the American style. My second year there I had to work on my confidence and believe in myself.,” Tangara said. “This past year I just worked on my defense and my rebounding. That was my role and I think I really learned how to do that.”
Now he’s looking to Lute Olson’s club and how he fits into the system. The learning process will start all over again for Tangara. Arizona boasts a number of talented big men.
“Getting to match up with guys like Isaiah Fox and Channing Frye is great,” Tangara said. “Those two guys will help me work hard. That’s what I like. It’s not going to be easy but it’s going to be good.”
Tangara has made it no secret that he’s looking ahead to the pro level and looks forward to getting the coaching and challenge of playing in the PAC-10. He believes he could have helped the Wildcats this season.
“I’ve watched them play this year and they need someone like me to rebound and make some blocked shots,” Tangara said.
The big man will team up with future teammate Jawann McClellan on Friday evening in the adidas/EA Sports Superstar game. Stay tuned to RivalsHoops for exclusive updates from the star studded event.
