adidas/EA Sports Superstar: Jamar Butler

All star game settings are about scoring a ton of points. They are about making the fans happy. They are about show. And for some players, the all-star setting aren't a true showcase of what they have to offer. One such case was Ohio State-bound point guard Jamar Butler. The 6-foot-2, 190 pound floor general gave his thoughts about the future.
Butler didn’t have any glaring stats last week at the adidas/EA Sports Superstars game in Knoxville, Tenn. but he did show that he is serious about running an offense. He’s a serious player that doesn’t go for the highlight play rather for the effective move.

Butler, who averaged 30 points, eight assists and six rebounds in his senior campaign, was efficient in practice and in the game with his passing and solid defense.
The strong bodied guard from Shawnee HS in Lima, Ohio can muscle through defenses and keep the quicker guards in check with some physical on the ball defense. Sounds like the perfect Big Ten player, doesn’t it? And Butler made that reality come true after verbally committed to Cincinnati first. A commitment to the Buckeyes from a familiar face helped make the change easy.
“My best friend Matt Terwilliger is going there so that made it real easy to make a decision on Ohio State,” Butler said. “We’ve known each other since seventh grade. We know everything about each other. He takes the pressure off of me and I do the same for him. I think people will see that when we get out there and start playing.”
Many Buckeye fans have wondered what Butler’s role will be next season. The No. 69 player on the Rivals150 filled us in on what to expect.
“Coach O’Brien told me that he’s ready for me to come in and take over the team and be the leader over my time there at the one spot,” Butler said.
Get ready Big Ten. Butler means business.
