Douglas County (Ga.) class of 2016 shooting guard Brandon Robinson possesses all the attributes college basketball coaches look for on the recruiting trail. First and foremost, he's a supremely talented prospect, but he's also strong academically and is the type of kid you never have to worry about off the court.
For that reason, schools such as Alabama, Auburn, Clemson, Creighton, Florida State, Georgia, Georgia Tech, Maryland, Stanford, Tennessee, Virginia and Wake Forest are involved in his recruitment. Robinson took unofficial visits to Alabama, Auburn, Clemson, Florida State, Georgia and Georgia Tech during football season.
Florida State is a school prominently mentioned in Robinson's recruitment. Leonard Hamilton and assistant coach Charlton Young have made him a priority.
"I like Coach Hamilton and I have a good relationship with 'CY'," Robinson said. "I want to see what their program is going to be like next year with the guys they have coming in next year. It's not a turn off for me because I like the competition. When I was a freshman in high school, I had guys ahead of me that I had to compete with and it made me better."
Brian Gregory has personally taken over Robinson's recruitment at Georgia Tech.
"I like the way they play and I like Coach Gregory. He trusts his players and he always tells me how I can fit in his system. He said they have some guards leaving in a couple years and needs guys that can come in and help right away."
Georgia's coaching staff stays in regular contact with the four-star prospect as well.
"I have a good relationship with their coaches. They call me all the time and check in on me. I haven't really had a chance to watch them much this year yet other than the Georgia Tech game."
Bruce Pearl, despite a slow start to this season, has a lot of people excited about the program he'll eventually build at Auburn.
"I think their program is going to be something special coming up. I think Coach Pearl is a great recruiter and he's got a great coaching staff too. I feel like they are on the rise."
Robinson plans to finish his junior year and last AAU season playing with the Georgia Stars in the Nike EYBL before making a commitment.
"I've been thinking about doing it either on my birthday next year or before basketball season starts and get it out of the way. I'm looking for somewhere that can help me reach my dream of playing professionally and somewhere I can learn and be comfortable. I'm looking for a place that feels like home. Distance doesn't really matter to me, but that might matter to my mom."
