ACC it is for Evans

Jontel Evans started the week strong at the Nike Peach Jam. On Friday, he ended the work even stronger. The 5-foot-11 point guard from Bethel High School in Hampton, Virginia made a commitment to Virginia on Friday.
The Cavaliers shadowed Evans over the weekend at the Peach Jam and had at least one coach at each of his games. Three days later, Evans decided he was ready to make his commitment official.

"After making a visit there, I told my mom and dad that I wanted to be a Cavalier," Evans said. "That's when I knew, on my way home after my first unofficial visit. After seeing the campus, seeing the players and the administrative staff, I told my parents that I was ready to be a Cavalier as soon as we got in the car."
Evans made the first initial visit last month, he said, and from there the love affair was on. He said he liked the vision that Dave Leitao had for him.
"He likes my toughness, my quickness, my defense and my heart. He thinks I bring that to the table. He said he thinks I have a lot of the same characteristics that Sean Singletary had when he was there," Evans said.
That isn't bad company. Evans shined on the defensive end of the floor last week at the Peach, an event he and his Boo Williams team won on Tuesday.
Evans also strongly Virginia Commonwealth and Marquette, he said. The two-sport star said he is also a basketball-only commit. Evans and his Boo Williams will be in Orlando for the rest of the month at the AAU events.
