"I got to know the coaching staff and could tell that they really want me," Abukar said. "The facilities are great. Coach Harrick is a top coach. And the school is set up just like home," he added.
Abukar averaged 22 points, 10 rebounds, four assists and four blocks per game as a junior this past season at Rancho Bernardo.
He said he's working on improving his perimeter game during the offseason. "I'm working on putting the ball on the floor and driving to the basket," he said.
Abukar has a 2.7 GPA and has already recorded a qualifying SAT score. He will re-take the test in June and plans on majoring in business.
Abukar will be attending the NBA Players Association Camp in June and the adidas ABCD Camp in July. He plays with the Southern California All-Stars with whom he will participate at the adidas Big Time Tournament later in July.
