Aaron Spears Ready To Take Trips
Aaron Spears, a massive 6-9, 240-pound power forward/center from Dunbar H.S. in Chicago, Ill., told us tonight he will visit Iowa on March 22nd. "That's just one trip I plan on making," Spears told us. "But I want to take more trips."
The top candidates for his future official visits will be Illinois, Miami, Oklahoma, and Houston. "I am still really open," Spears said. "But those are the schools I will probably visit."
Spears, who previously said he was leaning to Iowa, told us he is now open and unsure of where he is leaning. "I just want to find the right school," Spears said. "So that is why I am taking these trips, to find out which is the best school."
Spears' team finished at 18-8, losing in the playoffs. Spears averaged 27 points and 15 rebounds during his senior season. Spears told us his low post moves and quickness has improved.
Spears has the kind of size that is often hard to find on the high school level. Spears will draw contact near the basket and knock down an occasional flat-footed jumper.
Spears played with the Illinois Warriors this past summer at the Peach Jam, Super Showcase and AAU Nationals. Spears said he is already qualified.
