A Steal Available

After earning first team NJCAA All-American honors last winter, Marc Lewis found himself in an unusual position this year.
A 6-4, 180 pound small forward/swingman from the North Dakota State College of Science in Wahpeton, N.D., Lewis served as a student assistant to Wildcats' Head Coach Craig Irwin.

The Minneapolis, Minn., native was working on finishing his degree requirements this year at NDSCS, and Irwin thinks he could be a steal for a Division I program this spring.
"Marc has a great midrange game and he's so athletic," Irwin said. "He tip dunks and he's 6-4."
Lewis averaged 19.4 points, 4.5 rebounds, 3.5 assists and 1.8 steals per game last season, converting 35 percent of his threes and 76 percent from the charity stripe. He knocked down a total of 38 three pointers on the season.
Thus far, Irwin has fielded calls from a smattering of Division I programs, including New Hampshire, and Division II power Kentucky Wesleyan. Gonzaga took a look at Lewis last year even though it was apparent that Lewis wouldn't graduate.
"He had some nice recruitment last year, but people don't remember him," Irwin said. "He wasn't on track to graduate and that hurt his recruitment, plus he was rehabbing his shoulder which he had surgery on this year. Kentucky Wesleyan is on him hard."
Lewis is open on schools and we'll keep you posted on his situation in the coming weeks.
