A Look At Justin Albrecht

Justin Albrecht, a rugged 6-6, 210 pound combination forward from Iowa Western C.C. in Council Bluffs, Ia., has committed to the University of Tennessee.
Albrecht visited Tennessee this past weekend, from Sept. 28-30, taking in the Volunteers' home football game against Louisiana State. After returning from his trip, Albrecht informed Iowa Western Head Coach Jim Morris of his decision.

Other schools he had considered include UNC-Wilmington, UTEP and Oregon.
"Justin was prepared to wait until late, but when Tennessee came in, he kind of put everyone else on the backburner," Morris said. "That was where he wanted to go."
While some people might be surprised at Tennessee going out and signing Albrecht early, Morris feels that it is a prudent move on the part of the Volunteer coaching staff.
"He is a blue collar worker type," Morris explained. "He drew 42 charges last year, and got a lot of big rebounds for us. He can shoot it from the outside and is an excellent jump shooter who knows how to play the game. He's a tough nosed player that every coach would like to have on his team."
Albrecht averaged 10 points and six rebounds per game as a freshman at Iowa Western, playing on a Reiver front line that featured four Division I prospects.
Morris said that Albrecht can step in and help next year at Tennessee, but he will by no means be a go to guy.
"If you are looking for him to come in and score 20 points per game, that's not realistic," he said. "But if you are looking for him to come in and help you win games, he can and will do that."
A native of Omaha, Neb., Albrecht was a non qualifier out of high school, but Morris expects him to earn his associates degree in the spring.
JUCO Junction/Rivalshoops.com will have the opportunity to catch Albrecht in action again this season, so stay tuned for more information on his progress for the Reivers this winter.
