A Leader Has Emerged For Green

For one reason or another, Gerald Green is one of the least talked about players from the class of 2005. The 6-foot-8, 195-pound shooting guard/small forward from Gulf Shores Academy in Houston, Texas, is receiving a high amount of interest from a large number of high major programs, but the buzz that normally surrounds the No. 9 ranked player on the Rivals150 list is missing.
“Things are going pretty good for me. I have a busy summer coming up, but that is something I really enjoy,” Green told RivalsHoops.com. “I just love playing basketball. I am looking forward to traveling this summer and trying to improve to the best of my ability. I have a full summer of basketball planned, so improving should not be a problem.

“I have been invited to the NBA top 100 camp, the Global Games and the ABCD camp,” he added. “My team and I will be traveling to events in Atlanta, Las Vegas and California. I might be missing an event or two, but those are the big ones that I know about.”
With teams like Alabama, Arizona, Arizona State, Arkansas, Boston College, Connecticut, DePaul, Houston, Indiana, Kansas, Kansas State, Louisville, Marquette, Miami-FL, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Texas, UCLA, Virginia and Wisconsin beating down his door, no one could blame the No. 4 ranked shooting guard in the class of 2005 for spending a great deal of time thinking about his recruitment.
There is no doubt that Green thinks about the process from time-to-time, but it is not something he spends too much time worrying about. After averaging 28.0 points, 13.0 rebounds, 6.0 blocks and 2.0 assists as a junior, it is almost mind-boggling that Green, for some reason or another, is not getting the attention he deserves.
Green has yet to trim his list of schools, but he indicated that one school in particular is right at the very top of his list.
“If I were to trim my list of schools down to five, Kansas would be at the very top of the list,” Green said. “Man, they are at the top of my list right now. “I just love the team, the coaches, the family atmosphere, the tight bond the players have and everything else about the program. I would feel right at home playing at a school like Kansas. I know that Texas is not real far away from Kansas, but it would be like a second home to me.
“I have talked to the coaching staff and they want me to come up for an official visit in the fall,” he added. “That is something I definitely plan to do. I would like to visit Kansas, Miami-FL, Texas and Oklahoma State. There is a chance that I might drive to Texas and Oklahoma State for unofficial visits, but I don’t know yet. What I do know is that Kansas is sitting at the top of my list right now.”
