According to Caesar Rodney High School Head Coach Tiff McCullough, Josh Thornton is the best shooter that he has ever seen. A number of high major programs are monitoring the 6-foot-1, 160-pound combo guard from Dover, DE., but because Thornton was injured for most of the year, many schools are still in the evaluation process of the highly talented Delaware native.

“Tennessee, Arkansas, Virginia Tech, Georgia Tech and Georgetown are the schools that have been in, or are planning to come in this week to see Josh,” Caesar Rodney High School Head Coach Tiff McCullough said. “He has already taken an official visit to Tennessee and an unofficial visit to Kansas, but I have not heard from the Kansas coaching staff in a long time.
“I know that Josh is wide-open when it comes to his recruitment,” he added. “I doubt he will take any more visits this spring. He really wants to concentrate on having a good summer. If that happens, there is no telling how many schools will become involved in his recruitment.”
Thornton has attracted a great deal of interest from high major programs because of his ability to hit from the outside. Despite the fact that Thornton was injured for most of the year, he was the top three-point shooter in the state of Delaware.
“Josh is the best shooter that I have ever seen at this level,” Coach McCullough said. “He really reminds me of Paul Pierce as far as his ability to shoot the basketball. Josh has such a fluid shot and can consistently hit from behind the three-point line. I am not saying that he is a Paul Pierce type player, but Josh shoots the ball like Paul does. Once the coaches see Josh play this summer, they will jump all over him.”
Rivals.com ranks Thornton as the No. 74 player in the class of 2005.
