A-10 school scores Warren

Damon Warren, a 6-foot-9 forward from Worcester (Mass.) Academy, is off to the Atlantic 10.
The Oakland, Calif., native visited George Washington last weekend and knew it was time to close the books on his recruitment. Worcester Academy head coach Ed Reilly thinks Warren is custom built for the basketball played in his future conference.

"I think they are getting a great player for the Atlantic 10," Reilly said. "He's a blue collar, hard-nosed kid. He has a terrific body. He's a shade under 6-9 and weighs about 225, 230 right now. He has a tremendous frame that's only going to get bigger and stronger with conditioning and weights. He runs like he was just shot out of a cannon.
Reilly said Warren's upside and continued development make him a very intriguing player for GWU head coach Karl Hobbs.
"[Damon] has a tremendous pair of hands. He catches everything that was thrown to him. He's a good facilitator out of the low post because his skill level is getting increasingly better every week. He can hit the jump hook with his left and his right and he's good on the baseline. He's a very adept face up jump shooter," Reilly said.
"He'll need to continue to improve on becoming a force defensively and protecting the rim a little better and becoming a shot-blocker and intimidator. That's our main objective with him this season. He can really run. I think that's what Karl saw him and I think that Damon will fit in nicely with the way that they play. I think he'll get some quality minutes early on in his career as he continues to develop."
Warren also visited St. Bonaventure. He was scheduled to visit Oral Roberts this weekend and Drexel the following weekend. Western Kentucky was also in the running.
"He felt very comfortable with the opportunities and surroundings at George Washington and that's the reason why he made his decision," Reilly said.
