3-on-3 Topples NJ Roadrunners For Title

BETHLEHEM, PENNSYLVANIA -- Kennell Sanchez erupted for 21 points on 10-of-11 shooting from the field to lead the 3-on-3 AAU program past the New Jersey Roadrunners, 48-45, at the Lehigh Valley Hoop Festival on the campus of Moravian College.
Sanchez' team had built an early double digit advantage until the Roadrunners made a great comeback. Randy Foye scored most of his 17 points in the second half and received some help from backcourt mate, Max Schaeffer, who dropped in 12 points.

However, a play involving Foye is what sealed the Roadrunners' fate. Trailing by two points, Foye went driving down the lane. A defender got his hand on the ball, disrupting Foye's flow to the basket. One of the two referees, standing all the way at the other end of the court, whistled Foye for traveling. The New Jersey Roadrunners' bench shouted in protest.
But from the angle of the play, many observors thought that Foye had walked. The New Jersey Roadrunners' contention was a good one though. The call was made many feet away. The closest official did not blow his whistle.
Maurice Collins also had 11 points for the winners. Collins had a very good tournament.
This was a tournament that saw many upsets. The Long Island Panthers and T5T Playaz were both upset early as were the New York Ravens. However, many teams did not have their full roster on hand.
