Lorenzo Thompson, a 6-7, 230-pound combo forward from Crane High School in Chicago, Illinois, is a big-time talent who is being wooed by some of the top programs in the Big Ten Conference.
Thompson, while possessing a sturdy frame, has very quick feet and the ability to put it on the floor and slash. He has a good set of mitts and does a nice job of sealing his opponents in the post. Thompson showed the ability to score both facing the basket and with his back to the basket at the ABCD camp and Three Stripes Tournament at Hofstra.
Lorenzo is being pursued by Michigan State, Michigan, Illinois, DePaul, Cincinnati, Syracuse, Ohio State, Florida, Oregon, and Wyoming. Michigan State, Illinois, and DePaul have offered.
"I might take an unofficial visit to Michigan State," said Thompson.
Thompson will participate in the Las Vegas Big Time Tournament with the Illinois Fire. He is also playing in a pro-am league in Chicago this winter.
Lorenzo averaged 18 points and 12 rebounds at Crane this past season. He carries a 2.6 scholastic GPA. Thompson is close to achieving the NCAA minimum on the ACT, but has not yet gained a qualifying score.
