3 High Majors Take Look At Swing

Sammy Mejia, a 6-5, 190-pound swingman from Storm King Prep in Bear Mountain, New York, is a member of the class of 2003 who has impressed RivalsHoops.com this spring at the IS8 league with his versatility.
Mejia, a native of the Bronx who played during his junior year of school at Roosevelt High School, is a wiry swing-type who handles well. Mejia ran the point at times for the LPAC team. Mejia is a capable slasher and good off the bounce. He needs to play with more intensity on the defensive end.

Mejia told RivalsHoops.com that he is hearing primarily from Illinois, Providence, and Syracuse. Our sources tell us that Illinois is in good shape in his recruitment. None of the schools have extended offers yet.
Mejia averaged 27 points, 8 rebounds, and 5 assists this past season for his coach at Storm King, former Army sharpshooter Kevin Houston. The 19-year-old told us that he will play this summer with the Brooklyn
Beast AAU program, as well as the Bronx-based LPAC team and The Renaissance Warriors.
Mejia carried a 2.0 GPA at Roosevelt High School, but has scored an 830 on the SAT.
