2016 five-star next up from Dallas

The recruiting world has come to expect that the city of Dallas will produce big time prospects. Five-star Terrance Ferguson is one of the next in line.
A 6-foot-6 sophomore shooting guard who is originally from Oklahoma, Ferguson attends Dallas (Texas) Prime Prep and has already made a name for himself.

The No. 10 player in the class of 2016, Ferguson had a big freshman year before playing for USA Basketball's 16U team over the summer. Now, the jump shooter with deep range and elite athleticism wants to take his game to a new level.
"Coach, he wants me to shoot every single jumper," Ferguson told Rivals.com. "Even in practice if I miss taking a jumper he's got me doing pushups or whatever.
"Last year it was my role too but this year my role is way more expanded. We lost some bigs so our guards need to step up and I need to do more this year."
Because he's so dangerous launching from deep and has played on teams with other big time options, Ferguson has at times settled too much for the jumper. Much of that will be fixed with experience but he's actively working to expand his game and become more dangerous to opponents.
"Right now what I need to work on is faking because everybody knows I can shoot," said Ferguson. "So they are going to run at me full speed to close out. I need to fake the ball and take two dribbles and pull-up or go to the rim and dunk it on them. I'm athletic so I need to use that against them."
Given his pedigree and that he's already proven himself on big stages, Ferguson has become a hot commodity with college coaches. He holds offers from SMU, TCU, Houston, New Mexico, Oklahoma State and Baylor.
For now, though, Ferguson isn't worried about his ranking, recruiting or being the next big thing out of Dallas. He's just focused on his sophomore year.
"I'm not really thinking about it yet," said Ferguson of the attention and recruiting. "I'm focusing on school ball right now and then by my senior year I'll focus on the recruiting thing."
