2008 target emerges

Several major programs have made a versatile prospect from Middle Tennessee one of their early recruiting targets for the class of 2008.
Clemson, Florida, Florida State, Georgia, Illinois, Memphis and Tennessee are all showing interest in Culleoka (Tenn.) High sophomore DeMario Williams. Missouri also recently began inquiring about Williams.

The 6-foot-4, 175-pound sophomore plays small forward for the Nashville Celtics, which possess a pair of point guard prospects, Gerald Robinson and Jamie Graham. He helped lead the team to the 17-under title in the inaugural King of the South tournament in Nashville last weekend.
"I'm more of a role player with the Celtics," Williams said. "I'm just trying to fit in and be a defensive stopper. It is fun and it was real fun to win."
Williams plays point guard at the high school level.
"I'm a completely different player outside of AAU," Williams said. "I'm more of a vocal leader and a scorer. I'm also a good passer and rebounder. I do a little bit of everything."
Williams said he isn't leaning towards any colleges yet, but he is a fan of Georgia. He lived in Albany, Ga., until eighth grade before moving to Tennessee.
"I love the Bulldogs," Williams said. "I've always been a big fan.
"I also grew up rooting for Duke. I really like coach K and his program so obviously I would like to get their attention."
Williams will likely grab the attention of several more schools on the AAU circuit this summer.
